Gowen Files Amended Complaints against Full Tilt

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

If you play poker or is an interested poker lover then read this article fully. You must have heard about Clonie Gowen who is one of the most celebrated poker stars around. You also must have come across the name of Full Tilt Poker which is the most favourite online poker companies in the UK. The interesting news here is that Gowen has filed in a complaint and had sued this online poker company. His lawsuit against this particular company consisted of a minority oppression claim against this online poker giant. It also consists of several other allegations which have been reported against the company by this pro player. Gowen has brought some allegations against the entire 13 member unit of Full Tilt consisting of its CEO/CFO Raymond Bitar.

She claims that the defendant breached their agreement of giving her 1% share of the profits. According to her the deal was set, that if she joins the company’s team and become “celebrity representative, promoter and spokesperson” then Full Tilt will give her the desired percentage of profits. In her allegation papers Gowen has also added some of the conversation details that she had with Bitar back in the year 2004. According to her Bitar entered into the issued agreement in that conversation itself. She also said that there were not much negotiations and it all worked out very smoothly indeed. Her lawyer said that the ace poker star completed trusted the statements that were given to her by the company and worked accordingly, but still she is the one in the receiving line.

However in the court of law Gowen’s amended complaint does not address some of the issues raised in the Full Tilt’s defendant motion. She did not point out directly to any of the thirteen member unit of the board but said that all the actions taken by Full Tilt were done with their authorization and consent. Most likely the court will dismiss the entire case in its entirety. But as it moves to the discovery phase, where both the parties will be interrogated with the documents that they produce might reveal some more facts. To know more you have to stay glued to this website and check in the upcoming articles that will come up shortly.

Badugi now offered at PokerStars

Friday, December 5th, 2008

The asian poker game Badugi is so far only added at a few poker rooms online, but now since PokerStars is introducing Badugi, this game might catch up even among online poker players. Badugi, also called Padooki or Asian poker, is a bit similar to both Razz and Draw Poker.

At PokerStars you can play Badugi in SNG’s or tournaments and so far it seems to attract mostly low-limit players but it will be interesting to see what this game brings in the future.

Players go for the lowest four card hand where all 4 cards must be in different suits, a bit like lowball. The best hand in Badougi is A-2-3-4 offsuit. Note that aces are always low in this game. You can read the Badugi rules here.

This is an interesting game that can offer fast action and it is interesting how this old variation of poker will be taken on by online player. Badugi certainly has a place for bluffing and it is a mix between skill and luck.

Signup now at PokerStars and take on the fascinating game of Badugi, use PokerStars marketing code PAWSUB465 which gives the best promotions for new players.

Phil Ivey top earner at Full Tilt Poker

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Phil Ivey has had some recent fantastic runs at the high stake tables at FullTilt. His activity, along with many other players, has now been analyzed based on data since 1st January 2007. This report basically concludes that Phil Ivey is still dominating the high-stake tables with no one else really near him.

Since the beginning of 2007 he has played more than 41,000 tracked NL Hold em hands which resulted in over $2.3 million in winnings. However, I would think the main reason why Ivey is dominating this list so much is because he can master and win in any poker variation, where others have winnings only from one or two variations. Ivey had winnings over $1.4 million from Omaha from PL Omaha, and more than $3.1 million from Omaha Hi/Lo among others. Also, no other player has a better HORSE record on Full Tilt Poker.

Number 2 on the list is Di “Urindanger” Dang and third is David Benyamine, but none of these are really close to Phil Ivey.

If you are going to register at FT, you should enter the FullTilt Poker Referral Code TILTEDBONUS and you are qualified for a bonus up to $600.

FullTilt sued by Clonie Gowen

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Clonie Gowen has just been told she will no longer be represented on the FullTilt Poker website or for any advertisements of the poker room. Clonie has recently filed a lawsuit against Full Tilt Poker, some Team FullTilt members (Howard Lederer among others), Tiltware, LLC and the list goes on. The reason behind this is verbal agreement between Gowen and Full Tilt Poker back in 2004, where Gowen would own 1% of the company. Apparently she has not yet received any money from this agreement and her constant promotion of FullTilt.

It has been said she also refused a check of $250,000 from Howard Lederer last year. Probably she thought that wasn’t a fair deal. Clonie Gowen is now suing Full Tilt Poker for $40 Million and it will be interesting to follow the case. FullTilt says her lawsuit is meritless and that there is no written documentation for the deal she claims.

Gowen has just left Team FullTilt and we can assume we have seen here in the Full Tilt gear for the last time. Clonie Gowen has been a well known player ever since she won the WPT Ladies Night in 2004 and recently she also won the World Poker Open 2008. We will see if this will damage her reputation or her play.

EPT Budapest winner

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

First ever EPT Hungarian Open has been finished and it was William Fry from UK that captured the first place and so also the price money of €595,839. Well, that wes the official price money but since a deal was made between the top 3 players it is a bit unclear how much it is. In total this PokerStars EPT event attracted 532 players and it was the first time it was being held in Budapest.

Johnny Lodden was the first player to drop out of the final table after going all-in with his pocket kings after the flop holding the high pair. But as many times before the river blew it all for Lodden when Martin Jacobson found his straight.

William Fry from Nottingham, UK was underdog when they were entering heads-up play but it didn’t take long before he had battled his way back and eventually eliminated runner up Ciprian Hrisca.

To qualify for future EPT tournaments, try your skills in one of the many PokerStars qualifiers where you also can win seats to WPT and WSOP events.

Microgaming banning US players

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

It has now been announced that the popular Microgaming Poker Network is banning players from 13 different states in the USA. It seems to have something to do with the current legal process in Kentucky where they threatened to take a lot of domains that offers poker and other games to the citizens of the state. The 13 states includes Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, New York, South Dakota, Washington, South Wisconsin and Utah.

The situation for US poker players is still a bit unclear at many poker sites. It’s recommended to look into the safest poker rooms for US players if you are trying to find a new poker room.
